The RACWeB project aims to improve the Western Balkans and EU countries’ customs efficiency
and transparency in risk assessment by enhancing the identification of risk profiles through the
utilisation of data mining techniques and by developing an advanced, web-based risk assessment
service in customs declarations.

The RACWeB project implements a web-based application to support an automated risk level assessment service, which:

  • automatically checks all customs declarations against a given set of risk profiles;
  • applies risk profiles derived not only from the experience and intuition of domain experts, but
    also from statistical analysis and data mining applied to the large volumes of data collected
    from processed declarations and other trade-related sources; and
  • learns from the experience of the users (Customs Administrations), who register the results
    of detailed checks on declarations and associate the results with the combinations of values
    in the particular declarations.

This service intends to complement the national customs systems and assist human controllers in
the performance of their tasks. The solution will be open and flexible, taking into account latest EU trends.
